We had our next Czech lesson and foun out, that system with "haček" and "delka" (those kommas to soften letters and signs to prolong vowels) was invented in language by Czech and.... SOLD to latvians after 1940!!!! before that they used those German-style language.
I'm shocked 
those enterprising Czech people

Is this really true? I just browsed i-net for this info, and found (I'm translating citation now) this "In thirties the brochure “Latvia. The Baltic Riviera” was issued again and all original [rakstība] was followed - i.e. Liepāja, Ķemeri, Mežaparks, Melluži".
So that already means thirties.
I dont think it comes from Czech anyway (and I'm pretty sure it was not SOLD)
I'll try to dig up more, though

Noela. I don't know The fact is it was told by philologist, and when my hus told smth like - really?? I'll check with colleagues she went like - sure you can, but they will never admit

My relative is... what is the right word.. linguist? I suppose she knows a lot about latvian language - I'll ask her when I see her
Till now I've found only that "ščļņ" etc. were used quite before 1940

Asking for Your help
I would like to understand nuances.
Situation - ex-lovers, he is extremely rich, powerful, yada, yada... She is pretty ordinary girl. Both're not humans (if this is important).
After affair (great sex, living together, sharing everything, but it was terminated sharply and definitely not by their will) he is calling her 'lover'. Now they are employer and contract employee respectively.
Is this offensive? Regretting? Still loving? Very personal? Impersonal like Russian "солнышко" for every ex-GF/BF whose name You cannot remember?
Any thoughts?

I think "Lover" is not as impersonal as "solnishko" in Russian. It is something more, so I wouldn't like my ex to call me so! But it is the matter for Her to decide, let him call her so or not! I wouldn't! I wouldnt' even let my ex call me "solnishko"! I find it irrelevant and wrong!

Usually we decorate everything including Christmas tree on the 24th of December, but this year I decided not to wait till last moment and we decorated everything in November . I am SO happy!!! 
When it is gloomy and snowy outside we have a cozy Christmas tree with sparkling lights.
